For some Anomalies with a certain level of intelligence, as well as some Anomaly owners, sponsorship provides protection. Through sponsorship, the basic rights and safety of the Anomaly—allowing it to exist in human society—can be maintained. Sponsorship is voluntary. It does not guarantee citizen status, does not imply a contract between the sponsor and the Anomaly, and carries no master-servant connotations. It is the broadest form of protection.
